A rare tobacco crate label guaranteed original.
There is one other currently on offer on eBay. By way of comparison, you may want to look at it. The copy we are offering is generally in very good condition. It does show some of the signs of its age, a little roughness of the edges, and a very small loss affecting the border on the left side. We've included a photo of the reverse of that section. The dark corners in the lower left and right are part of the original lithograph. It is 12" x 12"
Colored tobacco label features an oval portrait of Confederate General Stonewall Jackson set within a battle scene. Text above and below the image reads: "Stonewall Jackson / Fine 22s Twist / Watson & McGill / Petersburg, VA."
Text along the bottom margin, left:
"Entered according to act of Congress in the year 1873 by Watson & McGill in the office of the Library of Congress, Washington, D.C."
Text along the bottom margin, right:
"Lith. made by A. Hoen  Co., Richmond, Va."
