In the early 1980s the Knights of Columbus made available a commemorating medallion with a picture of Pope John Paul II engraved upon one side. On the opposite side of the medallion is an engraving of the Façade of Saint Peter’s Basilica. The words surrounding the engraving are:
"RESTORATION OF THE FAÇADE OF SAINT PETER’S BASILICA 1985-1986"
"POPE JOHN PAUL II WISHING TO HONOR THE PRINCE OF THE APOSTLES RESTORED TO IT’S FORMER GLORY THE FAÇADE OF THE PATRIARCHAL VATICAN BASILICA THROUGH THE MUNIFICENT GENEROSITY OF THE ORDER OF THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS AND UNDER THE DIRECTION OF ARCHBISHOP LINO ZANINI DELIGATE OF THE R.F.S.P.
The Knights of Columbus provided funding to restore the
    facade
and the atrium of Saint Peter’s Basilica.
