If you have a processor or programmable controller
in your CarWash equipment there possibly is a start output marked either Air Dryer or Blower.
Some places we start the Air Dryer with the final rinse of the CarWash itself.
If The Blower starts
when the Final Rinse Arch starts it gives the motors ample time to get up to speed to produce the right amount of air flow to remove the water from the vehicles as they pass under.
Motor starters are required with overload thermal protection and a shut off and depending on the voltage they can run anywhere from 0 to 0 for each motor.
If you have no processor for your Car Wash Equipment you can use a tape switch that will also require a timer.
If the tapes which is not feasible you can use an infrared optic switch to detect the vehicles entry into the Blower area.
A time delay on shut off should be included and the optics sensor beam should be installed several feet ahead of the blower nozzles to allow motors to come up to full speed
Time delay relay should be (OFF delay timer with momentary start input) anything 3 to 5 minutes.
This time delay will allow you to adjust for speed of the car going through to complete and turn off by the back of the car also allow if you have a second following car that the Blower does not turn off and then turn on again.
Keeping the motor running for following cars will save you both wear and tear on the equipment and cost of electricity.
In one hand wash CarWash application we used a wireless remote control after the car was soaked down with soap and water washed by hand mitts the driver would activate a final rinse and air drying unit with a remote control button he carried in his pocket.
One click and the Blower and Final Rinse would stay on for 3 to 5 minutes.

As far as drying the top of the 7 1/2 horsepower units with (5)five socks, the highest nozzle is 85 inches from the ground that will do very well with all sizes standard cars and pretty good with minivans and large SUV's large full size vans it will move the water off the windshield pretty well along with the bottom part of the van, however the top roofs of full size vans will not be reached as well.
The 10 horsepower unit with (6) six socks
the highest nozzle is 96 inches above the ground it will push water all off the top of full size vans as well as the smallest cars.
The pivot and cross action of both these is designed removal of water from the grill in headlights, hood and
fenders - including wheels windshield and side windows, roofs of cars, rear windows and trunk lids
