  • Condition: Some of these small pieces of colored glass are loose and can be shaken out through the eye viewer hole. It is in damaged condition and doesn't work as well has it did when it was new. The metal end cap with the eye viewer hole is rusty. Half of the prism is dark and the other half is illuminated by the front white-washed round glass window. The purple colored paper surface of the cardboard tube has lots of water stains. I don't know if this can be restored? It is still pretty entertaining just as it is.

    Up for auction is an
    Antq Purple surface Cardboard Tube Kaleidoscope w/ Loose Pieces Rattling Around Inside. This kaleidoscope is mostly a clear prism with small pieces of colored glass to add beauty. Some of these pieces are loose and can be shaken out through the eye viewer hole. It is in damaged condition and doesn't work as well has it did when it was new. My grandfather, who was born in 1900 saved this toy from his boyhood. It weighs 5 ounces, is 6" tall and has a 2 1/4" diameter. The metal end cap with the eye viewer hole is rusty. I found this towards the back of a basement fruit room shelf. At first I thought it was an old aerosol can.
